This month the Nashville Capital Network (NCN) and the Nashville Health Care Council are issuing a comprehensive report on the local venture capital marketplace, titled “Nashville Venture Capital Report: 2001-2011.” The report investigates venture capital investments in Nashville-based companies over the last decade with a special focus on venture capital investment in Nashville health care companies.  The Nashville Venture Capital Report is the first study of its kind on local venture capital investment.


Key Findings of the Report:

  • New companies are finding early stage investment funding faster now than at any point in the past decade and the investment climate is expected to continue rising
  • Between 2001 and 2011 venture capital firms have invested over $1.4 billion dollars in 215 Nashville-based companies, with roughly 65% of these funds invested in health care companies
  • The health care industry in Nashville has created more than 200,000 jobs in 250 diverse health care companies
  • Other thriving industries in Nashville include: the Media/Internet sector, Technology/Business Services, and Technology/Hardware Services
