We’re thrilled to introduce you to some of the Churchill Mortgage Young Entrepreneur Contest winners as our newest members. Be sure to welcome them if you see them at E|SPACES! We’ve asked them to share some of their entrepreneurial experiences with us. Here’s what they said:

Meet Emily Daniel

Founder of Spanish Lessons with Emily D

What does your business offer and what differentiates you from others in your industry?

“Spanish Lessons with Emily D offers personalized conversational Spanish lessons to individuals, small groups, and lessons in a corporate setting. We are unique in that we use a language-immersion style combined with a structured curriculum that I developed along with an open and comfortable learning environment. We are the opposite of the traditional classroom setup. We have 4 highly qualified and highly relational teachers on our team – and one of them teaches virtual lessons from his home in Spain! To provide flexibility and convenience for our students, we meet them on-site in their home, office or in a local coffee shop. Our lessons are effective, affordable, and fun.”

What ignited the spark in you to start this venture?

“Have you ever met anyone who was proficient in Spanish after 4 years of studying it in high school? Me neither! When I stopped and realized that people are studying for FOUR years and can barely put together a sentence (and it happened to me), I was motivated to come up with a different approach. I have a BA in Spanish and after I lived for a year in Honduras, I saw in myself the rapid and incredible power of language immersion learning. When I moved to Nashville, I combined my education and language learning experiences from Honduras and worked to develop a special curriculum geared towards practical conversational Spanish that people can actually use in their daily lives (personalized to them!).”

What motivates you as an entrepreneur?

“I am motivated and empowered by our students. I am inspired and awed daily that the curriculum I created is actually working and our students are overjoyed with the results they are having. I am motivated by conversations or emails that they share with me telling me about how they used their Spanish that day and how excited they are. I am so proud of all of my personal students and the ones who are in our program with other teachers.”

Is there anything else you’d like our community to know?

“It is never too late to learn something new or pursue a goal that you have always had. I’m so excited to join the E|SPACES community and I’d love to meet everyone! Muchas gracias!”
